I have a 93 automatic. When the sensors detect wheel-spin the TCS throttles back (?"loss of power"?). *If* your power loss is on dirt/gravel/you-get-the-idea under peddle to the metal acceleration then the TCS is, sigh, doing its job. FWIW I was given a $5000 rough estimate to have a TCS defeat switch installed. Its supposedly an $80 job on later years or on the '93 manual. The '93 needs a lot of its electronics upgraded before they can install that $80 switch. I was stranded in a parking place just off the plowed area of the street and couldn't even rock the car because the wheels simply wouldn't spin. *I* consider this a recall/safety item - design defect but SAAB said they weren't going to pick up the tab. I LOVE my '93 9000 and will maintain it and keep it a long time but I don't like SAAB's attitude on this one (one of there representatives lectured me on just why I bought my car).
