I had a mysterious creaking clutch problem in my 1995 900SE Turbo that couldn't be fixed. I'm happy to report that it has now been sorted out. The details are as follows: At the gearbox there is a lever that connects to the clutch cable. The other end of this lever presses against the thrust bearing that presses against the pressure plate. This lever has an 'axle' which has a nylon bush at each end. In my case one of the bushes (the top one) was badly worn. As a result when you pressed the clutch the lever would be pulled 'out of plumb' and would exert additional pressure on the other bush. As my old clutch was very heavy (which caused the bush to wear out) the pressure was too great to allow the lever to 'creak'. The creaking appears after a while because the gearbox gets hot (operating temperature). To check if this is the problem with yours get the clutch creaking and then get someone to operate the clutch. carefully place a screwdriver between the lever arm and the gearbox casing and move it about while the clutch is being pressed and released. If the creak goes away then that's the problem. BTW, before this problem was identified I have the cable replaced, the clutch pedal replaced and the pivot bearing (attaching the top end of the cable to the clutch pedal) replaced. In my case the bearing was also badly worn.
