Thank you Danny. First off, Procedurally it was a relatively simple job. My difficulties mostly amounted to bad luck. I've spent quite a good time in garages as my father owns one and has an indy mechanic that specializes in Saab, Volvo's and BMW's. I can assure you thathad it been a difficult procedure (it is listed as a "1 wrench in the haynes manual) I would have taken it to the dealership. But at the dealership you will pay +$300 for the part + labor and towning which make over $500 easy. At 117,000Mi I'm going to do every job that I reasonably can by myself properly. I've watched professional mechanics with decades of experience have serious problems and make major gaffs. Professionals in all fields like people to think that everything always goes perfect for them, it just isn't the truth. My difference is that I don't have that type of experience, but how do you gain it without doing work? If Glen would like to criticize more I'm glad to invite him to pay for the work on my vehical or come to VA himself and show me how to do the job properly. Thanks to all those with valuable comments. I think I'm going to try and find a housing from one of the saab recyclers.
