Are you sre that the solenoid itself is bad? The common failure mode is that due to corrosion/salt etc on the mechanism, the solenoid fails to pull the latch far enough. It's worth disassembling/cleaning and lubricating before you go for a replacement. However, if the solenoid really is dead, then ignore my post!
