A claim was made that Mobil 1 (which is the full synthetic oil most readily available in the US) is better than a standard oil. It may not have been specifically stated that way, but that is how I interpreted it. In the US market, there have been many brands of synthetic oil that have come and gone. Amoco (BP/Amoco) had an "Ultimate Synthetic" that went off the market nearly 10 years ago. Valvoline is now selling a synthetic oil as of about 2 years ago. In any case, they are/were priced with in a few percent of what Mobil 1 cost. Since Mobil 1 has the longest history, I expect that is why that brand was cited. Walt Kienzle
