Mobil One DOES have superior qualities that are noticeable, i.e., better performance of hydraulic valve lifters. My Volvo was running on Castrol Syntex (recommended by Volvo mechanic - he was wrong!) - and the "difference" was noticeable as soon as I started the car after Mobil One was put in.....quieter! The engine is more responsive as well! I used Mobil One in other cars over the last thirty years, and it's clearly the best one available.....! It may not have been | specifically stated that way, but that is how I interpreted it. In the US | market, there have been many brands of synthetic oil that have come and | gone. Amoco (BP/Amoco) had an "Ultimate Synthetic" that went off the market | nearly 10 years ago. Valvoline is now selling a synthetic oil as of about 2 | years ago. In any case, they are/were priced with in a few percent of what | Mobil 1 cost. Since Mobil 1 has the longest history, I expect that is why | that brand was cited. | | Walt Kienzle | |
