Oooo...great stories.... Well I'm on my second C900 (did I get that right lingo right- a Classic) an 1984 had ~80K on it when I blew out a syncro and a fork in the tranny... I'm probably at fault because I reved it up a lot to get it moving (that 8V engine was underpowed). A couple months after that it was totaled by someone coming into my lane on a icy day. Very sad day back then. I drove all kinds of stuff and almost ended up with a Peugeot! then I drove a SAAB and had a big smile on my face.... bought an 1989 900C with thankfully the 16V engine. That car now is torturing me because I still would much rather drive it, but I married into a Mazda Protege which now has 86K less miles than the SAAB's 179K. I've been stranded 3 or 4 times by the SAAB 1 - a brake light switch froze up and drilled the battery into the ground 1.5 - Didn't really believe the dealer that it needs high test gas or the plugs foul (I just yanked the plugs cleaned them off and I was back under way) 2 - Fuel pump, while on vacation, Dealer gave me the wrong part... it wasn't pretty 3 - ECU (Fuel injection computer) thankfully right after vacation, not pretty either. Looking back I've spent quite a bit on the SAAB and I think my smartest move would be to give up on the 900 and grit my teeth and drive the Mazda until it dies and then buy a 9-3 replacement! Oh - The Mazda has never stranded us in it's entire 91K. -Dan **** Fritz wrote: > We have a 92 900. It's been swell except for the following. > Blown head gasket under 100k.
