There's a metal retaining ring in a groove on the shaft, holding it in. Impact is what is needed to get past that. If you're using a grade 8.8 bolt (likely, if it's one of the ones you took off to get this far), I'd be shocked if it would break from this. Another thought - do you have the clutch disk depressed? If not, make sure you do that before you disconnect the hydraulics, but if you can't, let me know and I'll repost my experiences doing a clutch without hydraulics. Dave Hinz
