There are allegedly studies that show that a car with headlights on, even in the daytime, is more visible & less likely to get hit. Now, that may be because the folks who drive with them on, are more likely to be careful drivers, so maybe the study is flawed - but - it's so easy to just leave the switch on full-time, and run it with the key.
