And starting a back-and-forth snipe-fest isn't going to accomplish
anything other than wasting poor defenseless bytes and electrons. I
don't know about Dave, but Rick has the cojones to keep going on this
one forever, so dropping it is the prudent response. When the
cross-post peters out, you won't have to read Rick's .sig anymore.

Actually, "Derek Hawkins" <elNOSPAMdatanopsamcom> started this whole
sordid conversation by cross-posting the original news blurb between
alt.autos and the a.a.Toyota, a.a.Volvo and a.a.Saab groups.
Obviously, he thought the original subject would be interesting to
all - or he'd see if a good flame-war would start between groups that
normally don't hang out together - the world may never know which. I
must commend everyone here, you've all remained *fairly* civil... ;-)
If there was a strong delineation of a group that this discussion
belonged in - or didn't - it's trivial to trim the distribution list,
but nobody ever did.
