Oil pan is under the engine. That's where the oil will tend to drain to, by gravity. Look under car, you'll see the hex head at the lowest point. Get the Haynes manual, and you'll get a photo. You can torque by hand, but you risk a. under torqueing, causing a leak, or b. over torqueing, and stripped threads. If you haven't done much car work, it's very easy to go round stripping threads and/or bolt heads. If you intend to do regular work on you car, get a torque wrench, and a good socket set (6 point, not 12). Good torque wrenches start at around £30 ($45). Oil filter is cheap (~£5, $8). Best piece of advice I can give you is to get a manual and read it carefully, and ask all the questions you want to ask, either here, or at www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9000. Grunff
