Didn't the original post say it was an automatic? In that case, there's no clutch - just a torque converter (unless you have the Sensonic semi-auto like me...). Based on the symptoms you describe, this seems like normal behaviour. There isn't quite the same correlation between engine revs and road speed, even in the same gear. The tourque converter is a fluid coupling. I'm not exactly an expert on this, so if you think you have a problem, see an automatic gearbox specialist.
