But you may even want to consider a base 900 16 valve or even an S model. You can usually find them (at least in my area) for $500 and up. That way he can be all cool with the ac, moon roof, and maybe you might even find one the factory CD player in it. They are nice cars, not a big investment, and you can take pride in the thing, but if he breaks out the fuzzy dice ground him! The safest bet though for speed is surely the 8-valve. I've got one and trust me your not breaking any records with that one! And on those long inclines, top speed 45-50MPH! If you live in mountainous terrain it'll take him too long to get to work!! The 8-valves though are simple to maintain, reliable and will certainly get you around (and pretty good on fuel too!)
