Looking at the initial press for the CTS, it looks comparable to the 5-series BMW's. And there's a high-output CTS on the way, to compete with the M5. I think Cadillac's abandoning the "geriatric buyer" all together. With the 2004 STS rumored starting at 425 HP and the new XLR coupe (based on the Corvette platform) also running at the 400 HP range, one would have to wonder. The only "geriatric" car left in the line-up would be the DHS, which would probably start off in the 325 HP range, but I'm going to assume that Cadillac will retain the DTS, for those who what the high luxury but want the sport in there as well. Tack on the new "Vizion" style SUV and the Escalade/EXT. Once their line-up is complete, all that would be left is a 3-series style auto -- which is already in the works anyways. But back to SAAB..... I think GM is trying to "flesh out" the SAAB line-up. 9-3 is being upgraded to compete better with the 3-series/C-class/A4/ X-Type. 9-5 is being revamped to compete better with the 5-series/E-class/A6/S-Type. And you're got the "9-7" which is supposed to be either like the M-class or the Volvo Cross Country. And the 9-2, 9-X autos that are in the works. It should be an interesting time coming.... -- Marc Escuro mgescuronopsam.com "...when all hope is gone, you know sad songs say so much..."
