Why? Normal brakeing uses the hydraulic system not the manuel lever on the caliper, that is only hooked to the handbrake cable. > It's most likely the wires that needs to be replaced. Negative - I'd bet the farm on the fact that it is the caliper. 'If after applying the handbrake the lever does not return, the caliper needs to be repaired or replaced' - or something like that from the Bentley book. That's been my experience also with my old '84 900. The cables (wires?) have nothing to do with the caliper lever returning to normal position - they only activate the parking brake lever. Sometimes you can free up that lever with a little lube and some motion but it won't last long - and when you least suspect it you'll use your handbreak, the thing will lock, then you'll be needing new roters too, trust me - change (or rebuild if you are so inclined) the caliper. > > > > > I've noticed that after applying my handbrake and releasing it, the > > > front left brake stays locked.
