Simon, Sounds like all you need is a new replacement mast. Here in the U.S. they cost around $26. You take the old one off and feed the nylon tail of the new one in, make a adjustment and tighten it down. I watched the one replaced on my 87 9000S, after a tree limb bent my old one.
