Well, news stories become news because they're not everyday occurances. I'd rather have a better chance of having the car keep me somewhat protected by having the door stay shut in a normal crash and/or rollover. For every situation, someone can come up with a scenario which ends "and that's why the helmet cost them their lives" or whatever, but without looking at the statistics involved, it's just a mental exercise of "what-if".
