From what I understand the 2003 9-3 will arrive in sedan form for the first year only and expand more fully in coming years. Also, GM has no intention on abandoning the hatchback market. Whether or not it will come in the form of a 9-3 hatchback is unknown, but GM is ramping up its Alfa-Romeo line to include a hatchback.
