Actually, more power is a handicap in the snow. More power only makes it easier to spin the wheels when frozen feet in heavy wet boots are not very good at feathering the gas pedal. The whole secret to driving in the the snow/ice is to avoid spinning the wheels, yet keep the car moving. The under powered 900 8 Valve was just about perfect, especially with a 5 speed and Pirelli Winter 190s.
