Your son broke the pin inside the caliper by forcing the c-clamp onto the piston. The pin advances to push the brake pads to effect parking brake with every pull of the hand brake. So when you want to remove the rear pads, you need to first back out the pin with an Allen wrench through a plastic cap covered hole. Otherwise you can't remove the brake pads. Obviously a new caliper is in order. Yaofeng
