They have just recently sneaked in a budget FWD version, while the original X-type was launched as a 4x4 to position it along the so called prestige RWD cars. Now they have run into a problem: The journos rather like the FWD X-type and some prefer it over the 4x4, they suggest that we will probably see more emphasis on the FWD with higher powered luxury versions along that line. It seems that the 4x4 had more to do with marketing. Nuff said... Johannes
