repost - as I didn't see my first post show up on any server :( 1990 9000 2.3CDS non turbo auto 130,000 miles Johannes H Andersen wrote: > "Lineone" <adriannopsamone.org> wrote in message news:<DdG_7.15284$qL3.2650985nopsam6-win.server.ntlworld.com>... > > > A particular, known problem in the 9000 CS/CDs (and maybe 9000's before and > > 9-5 after?) is the heater matrix. > No problemos. No problem with security, but problem with headlamp relay - sometimes lights won't go to main beam, hit the relay and it works for a while. > > > > - Washer bottle leak (it's the T-piece underneath). > Yes, precisely. New T-piece. Same here, but you don't need a new T-piece. Dismantle old one and remove rubber seal/diaphram. cut new one from thin latex gloves and refit. > > > Other: New Head gasket, this may be an old "batch issue". Timing chain, > just in case as it was a bit noisy, new resistor pack. Head gasket was suspect after I overheated due to fan not cutting in (faulty wiring from temp sender/fan switch). Now it's stopped using any water and keeps temp fine. Recommend changing stat to 82 degree version and adding 2 speed fan wirng if not present. Also remember emergency fix for fan - jump the two centre contacts in the fan relay to turn fan on manually. (Amazing what you learn at the side of the road!) Timing chain a little noisy. -- Regards, Danny http://www.gaggia-espresso.com (a purely hobby site) http://www.dannyscoffee.com (UK advert for my mobile espresso service) swap Z for above characters in email address to reply
