I replaced the turbo in my 1986 900 with the cartridge only.  I think I got
it from turbocity.com, but I'm not sure.  It was around $350 and much
cheaper than buying a whole new unit.  I was really impressed with it.  I
put at least another 20k miles on the car after that before upgrading to a
1999 9-3, but never had a problem and it worked great.
