Subject: Re: Engine Crack or not?

When you overheat a car you do run the risk of cracking the head or block but this is rare unless it was severly overheated. Head warpage and to a degree block warpage can also occur. Your best bet is to bring it to a dealer to have the compression checked on each of the cylinders. The problem with checking the antifreeze is that the saabs have the overflow reservoir double as your fill point. If you can look down in there and see by chance if there's a substance resembling tannish/brownish snot or a tanner cream on a cappucino floating on top of the antifreeze then this is likely. More than likely you didn't do ring damage. If you want to find out change your oil and see if there's antifreeze floating on top of the oil... this is a good indicator. Other than that I agree with the previous post. A saab dealership or notable engine shop should check the compression. This is a pretty easy and standard procedure for a shop to do so if a dealer is inconvenient any engine machince shop should do nicely. ~Chris "Michael Rano" <mrrnopsamityconnect.com> wrote in message news:5Ao48.868$tT2.656824nopsamfeed.slurp.net... > I have a 1992 Saab 900 (2.1 Non-Turbo Auto) car with 67,000 mile that > overheated.
