Look at the small diameter wire (22 ga?) which hooks to teh back of teh alternator. It may have become detatched from its connector. This can cause the dim charge light. Other than that, it could be that teh brushes are worn to teh point of not contacting or possibly the regulator or diodes. Also make sure that the large cables are clean and well connected (battery, main ground point on frame and transmission, and the big wire on the alternator) Good luck, KeithG "Doug Smithson" <dsmithsonnopsamatico.ca> wrote in message news:yi238.3618$bu6.1124917nopsam20.bellglobal.com... > The other day the charging system light (the battery symbol) light came on, > but not at full brightness.----checked for loose belts, but everything > seemed ok........sorry, it's an '85 /900/16v turbo/5 speed........any > suggestions where to look next? > >
