Subject: Weird Hum

Car is a '98 9000CSE 2.3L Turbo Auto Trans- Frequently, when listening to the stereo (radio, CD, or tape) I notice a strong hum coming from the left rear speaker when I turn on the parking lights or headlights. Doesn't happen every time, but usually does. No other electrical load (i.e. ACC, rear window defroster, hi/lo headlight switch, cigar lighter, brake lights) has any effect. The hum sounds a lot like 60 Hz hum, but I don't know how turning a DC load on or off can cause hum, and then in only one speaker. Car is nearly off warranty, so need to resolve quickly. Would rather fix it myself if the problem is simple, however. Thanks for any ideas. Earl
