Manny, the red wire should be the positve connection. this should have any in line fuse & do not connect it without one. when you plug your aerial into the radio, this usually provides the negative connection. I've no idea what the black one is, but in one that I installed a while ago, it was a common negative for the speakers. do you have a manual for the radio detailing the connections or is it a bit warm?? hth us :-) Question 1: Black is ground Red is positive I guess there should be a third wire for negative. Am I right or wrong? Wrong, no 3rd wire Question 2: How do I know or check for the right wire. As in this red is definitely destined for the radio and is not for something else. Don't think taking the dashboard is necessary for this or am I wrong again? Use an electrical tester set to dc volts, connect the positive test lead to the red wire & the negative lead to bare metal of the car body. You should see a positive voltage reading on the test meter which should be close to the battery voltage of the car.
