Hi Eric: I live in Wisconsin, and we occasionally have a winter here (but not this year). I used Redline MTL in my '84 900 S, which fixed the cold shifting problem completely. 420K miles without any tranny problems, but other people seem to have had adverse results using Redline. I've also tried it in my '93 9000 CSET, but almost immediately put 10W30 back in as the transmission sounded different under load.
