I had this same problem on my '87. The top material pulled completely away from the glass. Went to a top shop and was quoted $80 for a repair. I asked what they would use. The response was clear silicone caulk. Bought a tube at Home Depot and reglued the flap back on. First I lower the top just a bit to release the tension. Laid the glue onto the window and aligned the flap back in place, careful not to get glue on the outside of the material. Held it in place overnight with duct tape (what else??). The next day I put the top up and carefully trimmed off the excess along the window. I got a nice tight seal for 7 bucks and a half hours time.
