Robert, Lubriplate is definitely the wrong grease, but that may be beside the point. There's one key thing you need to assess. Up to the point where the car starts bucking, does it accelerate better or worse than normal? If it seems to be performing better, the turbo may be overboosting and the computer is shutting off the fuel to protect the engine. If this is the case, the problem would lie in the wastegate. Possibly sticking, or possibly the diaphragm in the actuator has ruptured. Either way, should be able to be fixed with new or used parts - no need to replace the entire turbo. If the car is performing the same or worse, the problem probably lies in the ignition system, as some other posters have indicated. Fuel system trouble is another possiblity - bad fuel pump or clogged filter, and the system can't supply enough gas to keep the motor happy. In either case, find another mechanic! Greasing any part of the turbo system is a no-no - won't help and could possibly hurt.
