A grammar flame directed at someone whose primary language is > other than English? Dave, please re-read the context of the posts. After attempting to be helpful, informative or whatever, I was greeted by the following: * >> So now we know that you can't see the difference between a Saab 93 >> and a Saab 9„ (9-3), don't know the difference between Sweden (.se) >> and Switzerland (.ch), and can't spell.* Grandiose generalisations to say the least and quite degrading! I didn't even comment on grammar until you pointed out that "Most people think ferrets are rodents, but that doesn't mean they're right, nor does it mean they shouldn't be corrected." Perhaps you were referring specifically to the 93 & the 9-3? Whatever the case, I thought it widely odd, that one from a non English primary language background would be making statements concerning spelling in a NG forum. If one is to go out on a limb as such, then they should make sure their own house is in order. Quite frankly, I think we'd both agree that poor spelling, grammar, typos, etc, are part and parcel of NGs. These topics are generally left alone, and if not, then perhaps a small joke etc is made of it, maintaining a harmonious environment. > How's your Swedish, Davo? Not great though I did get by with a little effort in Stockholm, however, I'd never attempt to correct a Swedes (or other nationalities for that matter) native spelling. I also wouldn't mock a genuine attempt by someone to help another in the NG forums, despite typos etc. etc. Ok Dave, there are enough flame wars in other NG's and I hope this NG is above that and will end here.. or at least after your next post to me :-) Did you happen to go to the link I provided and note the test on the 9-3? Curious as to your thoughts or anyone elses for that matter. I've also previously made a link to a page which has a video test on a Viggen. Any thoughts? I have a nice little video on a late 40's 92 and a mid 50s 93 I maybe able to crunch and post onto my site also. HTH Davo > Bye now... >
