I had some very long discussions with my dealer about a noise at the left front of my 1999 93 TiD cornering and low speed - crawling along in traffic BUT it depended on air temperature!!! Several times there was a heavy vibration within the car, enough to shake the steering and make the children ask what was that? It never happened at the dealer despite numerous visits! I eventually, several thousand miles after the first occurrence of the noise, by holding the top of the wheel and shaking vigorously, detected wear in the wheel bearing. The dealer ended up replacing the bearing which had cooked itself into the hub. The vibration was probably due to the brake rotor running inclined in the calliper causing the brake pads to grab.
