after replacing my fuel pump (bosch) in my 9000 (2.0 NA MY 89), the car cranks pretty long before igniting and in the gas mileage / voltage display it shows "Err(or?)". Check the fuel pump pipe connections are secure & tight. It sounds like you could be drawing air into the fuel system. hth us :-)
