Subject: Common reason for ABS warning light?

Hi all again, What is the most common reason for the ABS warning light on a '96 900 2.0i (UK) car? I know this is a bit open-ended but is it usually down to relatively simple things such as worn pads or faulty sensors? I have bought this car from a non-franchised garage and even though they seem very 'above board' and have been very helpful and accommo- dating, can such this warning light on the dash be extinguished by any other ill-advised method (like cutting the wires)? The car was serviced by another garage before sale so the exact answer on the fix is not really available. Perhaps I should have more faith in human-kind? ;-) All the best, Nick
