Subject: Re: '02 9-3 SE CD Changer?

Pioneer makes the factory head unit now, and from what I've gotten you can ONLY use a certain Pioneer changer (sold by the dealer), and yes, the dealer will have to "marry" the changer to the head unit. Whether or not you can buy an aftermarket version of the same changer and save some $$ I don't know. I have an '01 Viggen with an in-dash player and have for the time being just decided to live with the changer I was born with - my right hand! 8^) I did install the Clarion in my old '98 900SE with no help from the dealer other than purchasing the protective cage that fit the predrilled holes in the hatch. Apparently this changed either in 2000 or 2001. The physical install of the unit is not too bad - you have to cut the carpet to expose the wiring harness and then it's easy. You can definitely still save a lot of money doing this part of the work yourself rather than having the dealer do it. You can then take it to the dealer for the programming but that shouldn't take long and should be relatively inexpensive. Good luck, John "Tim Flannery" <timflannopsampamyahoo.com> wrote in message news:Fk1p8.115601$7b.10750714nopsam.nnrp.aus1.giganews.com... > I have scoured the net on every Saab bulletin board I can find for > information about an aftermarket CD Changer for my 2002 9-3 SE.
