Subject: Re: Aftermarket vs. OEM?

I grew tired of replacing brake pads before 15,000 miles - they did not squeal, but they did not last and left black dust everywhere. I went to semi-metallic aftermarket pads, based on recommendation of the Saab technician. They squealed, but they lasted over 50,000 miles - and little dust. You did not mention the model - mine was a 1986 900 - no ABS. andrewunix wrote: > I'm getting ready to have a couple of maintenance issues taken care of, > and I was hoping to save some money, but quality is very important to me. > The two things I need are front brake pads and a rear muffler. > > Is there an aftermarket brake pad that is of comparable quality to OEM > Saab? > > Is there any real reason to use a proprietary Saab rear muffler instead of > going to the exhaust shop down the street and having them throw a generic > one on? > > Thanks in advance for your replies. > > Andrew > > -- > agreenbu Return to Main Index
