Ian, This is a second attempt to repsond - first reply went into the ether somewhere. I have a 1998 9-5 and recently had it in for some rust work on the wheel arches. Dealer was great - no probs at - all within warranty. Some dealers might resist because they dont make any money at all out of these sorts of claims (especially if they have to outsource the work to an independent bodyshop) and its the paperwork that have to complete with no profit that puts them off - hmm like I give a shit! The Dealer was happy that the fault lay with SAAB and provided a courtesy car etc etc As for you being annoyed with the 9-5 for rusting so soon - me too. Was even more depressed when the bodyshop guy (who specialises) in SAABs informed me that the 9-5 was very prone to rust in those areas (sills and arches). To his credit he gave it a thorough check and would have alerted the dealer if he had found more wrong. He didn't find any more. You will need proof that you have had the paintwork checks done as per the service intervals. Good luck and push them hard mate.
