Subject: Re: 9000 2.3. INTERMITTENT Hesitation & Loss of Power

Hi Adrian, I had this problem on my '92 9000 2.3 16v (non turbo) in its first years. It ws still new and under the manufacturers warranty (not that it means much) and I have repeatedly complained about this. This loss of power has placed me several times in quite dangerous situations. It would usually happen about five minutes after a cold start. That's when I'd get the a crossing where I'd have to join a busy trafic. With a 50 meters (150 ft.) gap before the next car I'd make my move only to find out that tha car would almost instantly loose all its power. You can imagine how many people I must have irritated and hom many flashing lights and middle fingers I have seen. Anyway, SAAB garages ( a few of them) have not been able to help me. They'd always say that they test-drove my car and found nothing wrong with it. Since than I had the DI cassette changed twice and probably everything else that could be replaced. I've had this problem maybe once during last year. It is not completly over. You just have to get used to it and keep in mind that you're not driving a reliable car that can give you all the power where and when you need it.
