Subject: question for the group

i have an 87 9000t that has recemtly developed a problem with the air/heat blower system. it smelled odd then ran ok for several weeks.two days ago it smelled odd again and then stopped blowing all together. i've researchd and found that there is a resistor bank (speed control) somewhere in the system and i suspect this as the fault. if it is not then the blower motor is most likely fried, possibly both parts are bad. my questions are 1) where is this resistor bank placed in the car 2) where can i get the parts to fix this. it is complicated to tear the car down to get to the blower motor and i'll have to have the parts handy when i tear ir down.assuming these to be the problems. the smell came from outside the car and from under the hood near the intake for the air conditioning. it did not smell like an electric motor burning up but more like a resistor. question is where is the resistor bank. if it is in that area i'll buy that part to. if not then just the motor. if anyone has had similar experiences with this type failure then please write me back my spam filter put a period ( . ) before the doc to reply direct thanks
