In my 9000 the gear knob is comprised of three components The badge at the top which has the gear markings on it - this is glued to the knob itself but may have come loose. The knob, which has a fake seam cast into the plastic, this should be forward/aft facing The knob is then again clued to a hard plasctic molding which goes over the gear-stick shaft. This molding has a plastic lump in it which slides over a cut-out in the gear shaft. In my case the above mentioned plastic lump had worn away and with reasonable force could be pursuaded to move. Also the hard plastic insert had seperated from the knob and this too could rotate independently under force. In my case A new knob cured the problem As I say this is all 9000, but your may be similar. No nob jokes please ! Rog
