Subject: Re: Drive chain question?

What? The c900 and 99 has drive chains (3) with the primary gear set in the transmission. The transverse engined Saabs 9k,NG900,9^3,9^5 do not, to my knowledge, have a drive chain. On the other hand, the L4 engines 2.0,2.1,2.3 have timing chains and the balance shaft engines NG900 2.0,2.3 and 9k 2.3 have drive chains for the balance shafts as well. The 2.3 has a reputation of balance shaft chain failures and the balance shaft chains should be changed and the sprockets inspected whenever the timing chain is replaced. The v6 GM engine has a timing belt. I do not know about the current 9^5 v6, but suspect that the same is true for it as well.
