The Saab coolant is much easier for me to get around here > and I'm planning on a flush and fill soon. > The merc coolant is said to be better for the head gasket, as it contains an additive that prevents formation of crystaline deposits. The reason this is good for a Saab is that the aluminium head expands at a different rate to the cast block, and hence you get minute sliding movement at the head gasket joint. If you have crystaline deposits in the joint, they act a grinding paste, and eventually wear away the gasket.
