That budget will easily get you a nice 3-year tradein 9-3, or just above can get you a 9-5. Legroom was the deciding factor for me (I went with the 9-5 for the back-seat room), but for the price range you name you'll have no problem at all getting a very nice 1999 9-3, maybe even a 2000.
