Subject: FS: Rare 1986 2-Door (not Hatch) NA 900S $2000 [MSN WI]

This is a pretty rare car, and is one of my beloved SAAB stable. But I still have too many cars that are stored winters, and given the choice of three out of four, I'd rather keep the classic SAABS (MY73 95 and MY74 99) plus the 91 900S [though that might sell later, as I need to reduce my storage costs]. I had intended to use this as an ice-rally and autoX car, but not only do I have the 99 for that, but I'm also not going to have any time for that hobby for the next few *years*. Details: 1986 SAAB 900S NA 2-Door (not Hatch) - 128k on the clock - yes, it is just a baby - Silver with Tan Velour Interior - 5spd -> SAAB OEM Turbo Clutch Upgrade - A/C (but needs charge and conversion to R134a) - Sunroof -> manual, no leaks - Pioneer 45Wx4 CD Player - Class I hitch, replaceable ball, 4-flat wiring connector - Power Windows, Locks. - Alloy Wheels (Stock Ronals, or can have a set of custom 5-Spoke from an SPG instead) Recent Maintenence: 2002-05: * SAAB OEM Turbo Clutch Disc, Pressure Plate, Slave Cylinder, T/O bearing, Pilot Bearing, Flywheel, and engine oil seals. Yes, I'm thorough when I do any work. * New Michelin Pilots (nice M+S and Rain tires) * Gear Oil Changed * Front Alignment * Coolant Power+Acid Flush, currently 75/25+Redline WaterWetter * New Cooling System Relay, relocated to fender * New AFM * New Front Pioneer 60W 4" Speakers * New Oil Sender Unit 2001-04: * New Clutch Master Cylinder * New Front Shocks * Resurfaced Front Rotors, New Pads * Turbo Electric Fans 2000-07: * Ground Wiring for Rear Tail Lights * New Dist Cap, Rotor, Plat Bosch Plugs, Spark Plug Wires. * New Valve Cover Gasket * New Rear Rotors (pads still good so kept) The oil is changed every 3000Miles, and every spring when pulled out of storage, using Mobil1 Synthetic, PureOne oil filters. There are no leaks of any kind. This car is stored winters, and has been owned by SAAB mechanics and hobbyists all of its life. Last week, on trip to Texas and back, towing a small utility trailer, it did 26-27mpg at an average of 72mph. Typically, between Madison and Chicago, I see 28-29mpg on 87 Octane/10% ethanol. What does it need to drive? Nothing. Just drove to Texas and back, in the heat, no problem. I wired in a switch to turn on both fans, thinking that driving through the Ozarks and in Texas with a trailer might be too much - the car had never gone further south than IL - but never needed to turn it on. Regardless, it is set to run the fans for a period of time after turning the car off for an optional cooling cycle. What does it need to look perfect? It has a minor front-corner ding (I hate driving in Chicago), confined to the fender, that could be pulled out, and I also have a pre-cut repair patch in case bondo isn't satisfactory (I tend to be somewhat of a fussy perfectionist when it comes to car repair) as well as a new signal light assembly. It also probably needs a new headliner - currently pinned up as tastefully as possible, but a perfectionist like myself wouldn't be happy unless it was pulled out and replaced. It has a little bit of rust under rear driver's quarter, and along the bottom of the doors, but nothing visible from the outside. Will include a set of (black) doors for off-car sandblasting and repainting with the sale if requested. Actually, the buyer can peruse a stock of used parts with the sale as negotiated. I am located near Madison, and the car is currently driving between Appleton, Madison, and Chicago on a near-weekly basis. Can email more details, pics as requested, and a copy of the CarFax report. Can also provide references of recent car sales - people who were very happy with both the condition and price of two other cars sold from my still-downsizing collection - if needed. Both cars that I've sold since this spring sold to the first people who actually came and testdrove them. Normally I consider interesting trades, but I don't want any more cars, obviously. As a stretch, items in the area of a Powerbook G4, or a new roof for my house, or high-end woodworking equipment, might be considered, but cash is probably the most likely. email trimper+saabnopsamcop.net
