Subject: Re: 9000 motor mounts

The motor mounts being bad helped the failure of the front pipe. The main seal leak is worse if it is on the front of the engine. There, it will accelerate the degradation of the expensive harmonic balancer and belt tensioner. The engine mounts being bad is a problem because the engine moves around causing excessive wear on the half shafts and possibly causing car to pop out of gear (manual). As with any car, I would suggest fixing it. This can be a very nice car and you will enjoy it much more if it is in working order. Keep in mind that there will be other repairs. Do not base your decision on how much you have in the car, but what it would cost to buy/lease another car. The 1200.00 is roughly 3 months of lease. Is it worth 3 months of lease to have a car that drives smoothly (motor mounts), is not so loud (exhaust), and does not leak oil over the driveway? Your call. I do not know how handy you are, but some if not all of these projects can be done at home with a fairly meager tool kit. http://quasimotors.gar.net/mountinfo.htm KeithG Atif I.
