I've also heard that there is a physical difference in the seals of new cars. That is, they changed the rubber compounds a bit to work with synthetics. My own theory is that the synthetic cleans out all the goo in your old seals. That same goo is helping to keep the seals from leaking. When you clean it out, the leaks start. I have no scientific evidence for any of this... although someone else might. Bob
