My father had a similar problem with his '96 9000 V6 last fall. The belt blew at 95k kms and Saab Canada wanted nothing to do wth him - other than the local dealer offering a new 3.0 V6 for $10,000 CDN. You're lucky, atleast you were able to locate a used V6. I'm guessing wreckers don't keep them in stock for very long. My father's 9000 was too nice to scrap, so instead, he paid $8,000 CDN for a complete engine rebuild by an independent garage (Saab parts of course).
