Petrol also contains sulphur that = burns to sulphur oxide (SO and SO2), This oxide with the water forms = sulphuric acid. If you make many short trips acid condensates in the = exhaust system and eats it away. The front silencer gets hotter than the = rear silencer so condensation mainly happens in the rear silencer, = specially if you make many short trips where the rear silencer does not = get the time to heat up.=20 You could avoid this by using LPG instead of petrol/gas (like in my '79 = 96). LPG has no sulphur (or lead). I only had to replace front silencers because of cracks, replaced = several rear silencers because of rusting through from the inside. I = replace them with stainles steel ones.=20 (happens in any car, also a 9-5) ------------------------------------------- MH '72 97 '77 96 '78 95 '79 96 http://go.to/saab96
