Usually on trips to warmer climes. I changed the thermostat, helped some. I changed the radiator switch to a 75 degree switch, worked pretty good. Changed to MB radiator coolant after a severe flush of coolant system and cleaning of radiator externals, works well for long term engine health it would seem. I have yet to do the wiring mods described at townsends, that may not be necessary in my case. In this neck of the woods, NE Ohio, 85 deg f is very warm. On a recent trip to DC engine temp only slightly above halfway max, stuck in traffic, AC making cool air at least, outside temp 98deg f or so (at least at the radio station) and humidity very high. This is a black car with a black convertable top. Keep in mind that if you have converted to 134a for refrigerant that the capacity of the AC system will be lower. While I have yet to experience cooling fan failure, I can imagine death by inches in the desert for car and occupants. I would probably jumper out the resistor that makes for a 2 speed cooling fan(a switch perhaps winter summer mode?). While my 900 C is a different car than the 9k, there are similar issues. Thermostat is about 10 $US, radiator switch 10$US, MB coolant 10.50 $US, hp spray at car wash 3$US. Compared to a cruise control module this is pocket change. good luck dave the new guy
