Subject: NG900S Secondary Air Injection pump

I have a 1995 900S with the 2.3na 4-cylinder, and it has the secondary air injection pump that runs when you first start the car until the engine warms up. A few days ago it started making very loud bearing noise and I fear it may have burned itself out. The car still seems to run fine once the pump turns off; is this a problem I can neglect, or will I wish I had it functional when winter comes around? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
